Each of the three focus areas is on a different timetable for issuance of RFPs (Request For Proposal) and subsequent funding. When an RFP or Letter of Intent (LOI) request is issued, it will be highlighted on the front page of our website and we will make every effort to distribute widely via email.

PROMOTING SCHOOL READINESS & EARLY GRADE LITERACY IN CHULA VISTA, CA

Initiative Description:

Experts know that a healthy beginning to life is a major determinant of early childhood development and later success in school. That’s why our work in Education is aimed directly at school readiness and improving early-grade literacy. The focus of this education initiative is to ensure that children in Chula Vista have the supports needed to start school ready to learn and to achieve 3^rd grade reading proficiency.  UWSD is accepting Letters of Inquiry from eligible organizations/entities throughout San Diego County to work in collaborative, place-based partnerships to achieve measurable, community-level changes in Chula Vista, CA addressing School Readiness and/or Early Grade Literacy. Please submit Letter of Inquiry to United Way of San Diego County electronically at education@uwsd.org no later than 4:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
